Wedding Photography exposed!! A Wedding is the celebration of marriage between two people, who are in love, and wish to make a lifetime commitment to each other . It is a day charged with emotion, but above all it is about love and romance.
The differentiating factor that separates an excellent Wedding photographer from the norm, is the ability to capture images that really reflect the emotions and romance of your special day. A little look between the couple, tears of joy, a gentle touch, and the look of pride in the Fathers eyes, as he lets go of his little girls hand for the last time. These are the images that speak for themselves, they do not need words.
Yes, the Wedding photographs need to be technically correct, (that should be a given for a full time professional!), and yes, budget is often a key consideration, however the best Wedding photography is about love, romance and emotion. All too often, couples finish up with a set of pictures that are stiff,
| lifeless, completely posed, and taken to a formula that makes them exactly the same as the previous 50 Weddings the photographer has attended! “Considerations” when choosing a Wedding photographer….. Firstly ,do you like him/her? It seems a slightly strange and obvious question to ask, but the relationship between the couple and the photographer is probably the most important factor of all. It can make or break a Wedding! The right Wedding photographer , is a person with whom you feel relaxed, you enjoy being with, makes you laugh and smile, not too over bearing, and above all, someone you can trust. You need to remember that this is the person you will spend a lot of time with, on one of ,(if not the), most important day of your life. The “acid test” is, would you invite him/her as a guest to your Wedding? Other factors to consider would be, do you have the option of a pre Wedding shoot, (e.g. spending an afternoon together before the day at the locations). If there is a rehearsal, will he/she be prepared to attend? The more you get to know, and understand each other, prior to the Wedding day, the better. Does the quality of his/her work meet with your expectations? The website might look excellent, but are the shots on the site, from one or two Weddings or just a series of his/her best shots from lots of Weddings. You need someone who can consistently produce a lot of wonderful images from one Wedding….. yours!! There is no second chance. It is therefore advisable to ask to see at least two full Weddings on which to base your decision.
What’s in the package? How many images do you get within the package? What is the cost of additional prints? 30 prints may sound a lot, but in reality it is very few ,if you want to really portray the full day. Do you get a DVD to music as part of the package? Still images to music are incredibly powerful and emotive.
Good luck, and my very best wishes.
