 | | SWAY Sway, the perfect place for a New Forest short break at half term or for a romantic Valentines weekend. Lying on the southern edge of the New Forest and three miles north west of Lymington is Sway. Its southern skyline is dominated by the Peterson Tower, standing some 218ft high. The tower was built of unreinforced concrete in 1879 and took five years to construct. Sway Tower as it is known locally stands on the Arnewood Estate and is privately owned.
Like many New Forest villages Sway is well served by the Southampton to Bournemouth/Waterloo rail link. It is a thriving village community, with its own community fields and is renowned for its friendliness. It offers an excellent range of pubs, restaurants and new forest hotels as well as a good selection of local shops. There is also an excellent new forest campsite in Sway.
Sway is surrounded by the New Forest and offers the walker some of the best and most varied forest walks in the Forest. Setthorns an informal new forest campsite is based here.
New Forest Tourist Information can be found at Lyndhurst, Lymington and Ringwood. |
