 | | SALISBURY Some 14 miles from the Northern fringes of the new forest and set amidst stunning countryside lies the medieval city of Salisbury. There are lots of historiacl buildings together with modern high street shops and boutique style outlets. Stonehenge, a monument of prehistoric importance, can be accessed by road or public footpath. Here you can see earthworks, burial mounds and other circular 'henge' monuments. Salisbury has a main line station with services to London, Exeter, Bristol and Southampton. Road access is via the A36 or the A338.
Salisbury also has a beautiful racecourse that has both day and evening meetings. So whether you want to immerse yourself in history, go to the races or simply enjoy some shopping with a nice lunch thrown in, Salisbury is the place to visit. |
