Isle of Wight
No information on the New Forest would be complete without a mention of the stunning Isle of Wight. A county in its own right, the Isle of Wight, and in particular The Needles, can be seen from many shoreline vantage points in the New Forest.
Easy access to the island by Wightlink ferry is available from Lymington to Yarmouth IOW and by Red Funnel ferry from Southampton to East Cowes IOW. Yarmouth is a picturesque fishing, ferry and yachting port. Every June Yarmouth’s picturesque deepwater harbour is filled with life and colour with more than 100 visiting traditional sailing, steam and motor vessels, including the cream of the Old Gaffers fleet. There’s also an impressive array of onshore entertainment.
The Isle of Wight hosts the Round the Isleand Race and Cowes week.
