 | | HYTHE The fascinating world of Southampton Water is the home for some of the worlds’ largest and most luxurious liners – this is the backdrop to Hythe. A real contrast to the woodland and heathland of the new forest that borders Hythe.
Only two miles from Beaulieu, Hythe offers easy access to Southampton City Centre by boat which can be taken from the Victorian Hythe Pier, which incidentally has the world's oldest pier railway train. New Forest Tourist Information can be found at Lyndhurst, Lymington and Ringwood.
If you amble along to Prospect Place the marina offers another excellent viewing of boats, large and small, scurrying around one of the world's most famous ports. The waters of this famous waterway were also the home and testing ground for the hovercraft. Sir Christopher Cockerell - its developer - is commemorated in the Grove Gardens.
