 | | FRITHAM & EYEWORTH Fritham and Eyeworth, the perfect place for a New Forest short break at half term or for a romantic Valentines weekend., Fritham is a delightful place on the northern fringes of the Forest. It is surrounded on all sides by open heath or ancient woodland and has a timeless air about it. A visit to Fritham would not be complete without a visit to the tiny thatched Royal Oak pub.
The Schultze Gunpowder factory was based at Eyeworth Lodge, just down the hill from Fritham. The most substantial relic of the factory is the now picturesque Eyeworth Pond, created in 1871 to provide water for the works.
The nearest new forest hotel will be found in Brook some two miles away, although Fritham does have several excellent new forest b and b's. No visit to the new forest would be complete without a trip to Fritham. |
