 | | BRANSGORE AND HOLMSLEY Bransgore is less than four miles from the sea and nestles on the edge of the New Forest. It is just a few miles from Ringwood and in the old day’s drovers passed through the village with their stock on the way to New Milton’s market. The village boasts many chocolate box cottages, three local pubs, a primary school and a good selection of local shops and services. The leafy lanes give the village a definite rural feel.
In the 1800’s Bransgore was a prominent centre for brick making and supplied Bournemouth with most of its building bricks. Nearby Holmsey was a wartime RAF base and is now a monument for all seven of the New Forest wartime bases. Nearby, the Sopley base was the air traffic control centre for the south coast up until 1986.
The nearest new forest hotel will be found in Burley and New Forest Tourist Information can be found at Lyndhurst, Lymington and Ringwood.
The village has approximately four thousand inhabitants and has a thriving community which can be seen in all its glory on the annual Village Fun Day. |
