 | | BRAMSHAW, BROOK AND NOMANSLAND Bramshaw, Brook and Nomansland, the perfect place for a New Forest short break at half term or for a romantic Valentines weekend. Bramshaw is a delightful village with many ponies, donkeys and pigs wandering the lanes. Only 12 miles from Salisbury it also has the benefit of a well stocked village shop/post office that sells the most amazing fruit and savoury pies.
Many of the commons around Bramshaw are managed by the National Trust but the ancient woodlands are looked after by the Forestry Commission. Bramshaw is an ideal spot for walking, cycling or surveying the Forest from its highest point, Stagbury Hill. Nearby Brook is a chocolate box village with a stream running through it. Here you can find a quality hotel, a thatched pub and a golf course.
Nomansland is so called because during the 17th century no one was sure whether it was within the New Forest or not. Today the village is a tranquil settlement with a combined village green and cricket pitch, pub and French restaurant. The main village road serves as both the Forest boundary and the Hampshire/Wiltshire border.
