BARTON-ON-SEA AND NEW MILTON Barton-on-Sea and New Milton, the perfect place for a New Forest short break at half term or for a romantic Valentines weekend. As a base for discovering the south coast, Barton-on-Sea and New Milton are geographically located close to the New Forest. South of the A337, the beautiful nearby coast, with fine views over the Solent and with the Needles to the West and Hurst Castle to the East, they are ideally situated as a fine touring centre.
New Milton has a main railway line and a wide range of independent high street shops, including a department store.
Eating out is another delight, with many fine restaurants cafés and pubs, in and around the area. New Forest Tourist Information can be found at Lyndhurst, Lymington and Ringwood.
The cliff tops of Barton-on-Sea provide excellent views of the local beach and the internationally famous fossil beds. If paragliding is your forte, then the cliff tops are a well used location to either watch or participate.
Forest Arts Centre is a vibrant well-used theatre that attracts well-known and up-and-coming musicians, comedians and travelling theatre companies. Regular films are shown and exhibitions change every 4-6 weeks – there’s also a friendly café-bar.
