New Forest London Cab

The New Forest is Green - and that's official!

According to the Managing Director of the nationally recognised  Green Business Tourism Scheme, Andrea Nicolas, the New Forest is the Greenest Car Free destination in the UK.

Visitors wanting to reduce impact on the New Forest can arrive by train.  There are over 300 trains a day stopping at Brockenhurst from across the country with many stopping at Ashurst, Lymington and New Milton Stations.  You can travel directly without changing trains from Glasgow to Brockenhurst.

Virgin Trains have a scheme where your luggage can be sent on ahead so it is waiting at your hotel when you arrive and at selected hotels you can be picked up from the station at no charge and taken to your hotel.

Over 80 New Forest Hoteliers are trying to reduce their impact and have been benchmarked on a global level by the Green Business Tourism Scheme.  Three gold, four silver and one bronze award issued to New Forest Hoteliers.  In fact the New Forest has 'cleaned up' and has taken every single gold and silver award for business given out in the South East since the first of January 2007.

Chistina Simons, owner of the Cottage Lodge in Brockenhurst which received a Gold award said "These awards are a reflection of the efforts by new Forest Accommodation Providers to reduce impacts on the environment through sustainable tourism practices"  Christina's establishment serves the now well known New Forest Breakfast.

Also worth mentioning is the Montagu Arms in Beaulieu who this year has received the silver Green Tourism Business Award as well as the prestigious Hampshire Fine Dining Award.  The Montagu Arms serves only free range meat, fair trade coffee, organic salmon and organic produce where commercially viable.  Last but not least The Montagu Arms wholeheartedly continues to maximize the use of locally produced seasonal food when available.  Couples having a wedding at the Montagu Arms in Beaulieu can arrive in London Black Cab that uses recycled cooking oil as fuel!
