This February scrap the gym
membership and leave the car

is ‘Car Free’ month in the New
Forest. Why February? I can
hear you say. Well, because if
it is possible to park the car in
February - there is no excuse - it
can be done all year round. Of
course, not everyone is able to
leave the car behind. But for the
92% of drivers who do journeys
of less than one mile - now is the
time to consider pedal power,
walking or public transport.

Leaving the car behind gives you
more exercise, helps to reduce
stress and may even slow up
your hectic life style - just a little.
What’s more your actions will
reduce carbon emissions and

ease congestion. Hotels across
the forest are inviting visitors to
leave their cars in the car park
too.

During February 2007 hundreds
of visitors across the forest will
be given maps and encouraged
to walk or cycle from their
