Welcome to The Ferry Restaurant based in the historic Elephant Boatyard, Southampton.
Nelson's flagship H.M.S Elephant serves the name for this boatyard which was founded in 1952. The Elephant Boatyard was founded by Michael Richardson in 1952 at Bursledon - the site of the old ship building.
The Ferry Restaurant was originally a chain link ferry that carried passengers between Southampton and Woolston up until 1977. However the ferry was too expensive for some people to travel on, those wishing to to travel cheaper would use the Northam bridge - this cheaper diversion would take them over three miles !
The Ferry has now been converted to a superb dining restaurant that seats around 90 and now has a permament home afloat in the Elephant Boatyard.
Why not dine alfresco on the deck, a perfect way to eat in the Summer overlooking the marina and Hamble River.
