Barton-on-Sea businessman and Member of the Vizzit Sway Manor Business Club Roger Colmer (of RGR Business Consultants) has been offered a role in exploring the current and future needs for skilled people in the Welsh energy business. The Welsh Assembly has asked that a structured and coordinated approach be made to examining the current skill sets and the types of competencies needed for the future. With the demise of the underground coal mining industry in Wales and the expansion of new energy related businesses, the Principality is keen to investigate the people aspect of this changing world. Through his association with a young dynamic company called Getenergy Ltd., Roger and his colleagues have been asked to construct and facilitate a one day session involving representatives from Government, Academia, and Industry. The format used will be based on a model which is committed to bringing people together
| without barriers, and created and delivered extensively across the globe by Getenergy over the last three years. Although many mourn the passing of the underground coal industry it is encouraging that the building of two large LNG regassification plants in South Wales will mean that it is through this gateway that some 30% of the UK’s future gas supplies will come. With the strong Atlantic winds and the second highest tidal rises in the world the Principality is also well located geographically for exploring wind and wave power as efficient alternatives, or supplements to fossil fuels.
Asked about his contribution Roger said, “It is exciting to be asked to facilitate this programme and to see that all sectors are combining to help raise skills and focus on the competencies needed for future business success.” To contact Roger Colmer click here
