With an increasing number of couples living together before they marry, gift lists have become far more creative, so don’t feel you have to follow in the footprints of your parents and order a chintzy china tea set and a set of saucepans! Our list isn’t so unusual - there are quite a few traditional items such as non-stick saucepans, as I seem to ruin mine very quickly... but there’s also a range of more fun items (such as a tent and sleeping bags) that reflect what we actually enjoy doing in our spare time! We had gone together (unlike most men, he quite likes shopping) as all the other people in the lift were couples too, I hazarded a guess that we were all heading for the 5th floor for one reason - to compile our Wedding Gift lists. After around 10 minutes We were served by a cheerful assistant who taught us how to use a ‘zapper,’ which memorises the bar codes of the items you want and eliminates the need for you to take down codes by hand on a piece of paper. Happy that we had understood the instructions, the assistant wished us good luck and said to return the zapper by 6pm. Given that it was only 10am, we assured her that we would easily return within an hour or two as I knew exactly what I wanted. At 1.30pm, (much longer than I’d thought), we headed for the 5th floor to download our zapper into the store’s computer but was dismayed at the sight of a long queue and the news that there was a 20 to 30-minute wait. Gone were the smiling happy couples holding hands and in their place were seething individuals. My advice? Leave the groom at home, or get two zappers and send him to the departments to buy the ‘fun’ or ’funky’ presents. Please see below for list of Premium Wedding Suppliers |
MAKE A WISH LIST These days most of us have basic everyday housefold items so gift lists can be more adventurous: - 1. How about asking for scuba diving lessons on your honeymoon? 2. Or some luxury dining equipment including china or a canteen of special cutlery which could be finest silver or steel or something fun and funky.
3. Or how about crystal glasses. They could be traditional or contemporary, subtle or boldly coloured glassware to show off your new white linen and china.
4. These days it’s acceptable to ask for money or vouchers that you can spend on whatever you want, such as new furnishings or your honeymoon.
