Wedding dress Shopping It is the day that we girls dream of… (Or certainly I did) trying on dresses, feeling like a princess and having everybody cry at how beautiful you look. My experience was somewhat different (no surprise there). After browsing the internet for a while looking at different styles and designers I thought I had a general idea of what I was looking for: a soft, flowing, slinky number, fairly plain with no veil. So I thought it would be fairly easy (always a mistake). The first day of dress shopping was a long, tiring day and by the time I had finished I was confused, sore and was no closer to knowing what I wanted. By the time I got to the third shop I had forgotten what the first dress I had tried on was like and my eyes just saw a blur of white and ivory. The 2nd Day of shopping led me back to three of the shops from the previous week with the aim of comparing them against each other (none were slinky, soft or plain!). In the end I was so confused I went shopping on my own to a shop I hadn’t been to before, I tried on loads and then I tried on the last one and…WOW the minute I did, I knew that it was the one! Then took my Mum and my maid of honour to see it, they loved it, though my mum was a bit annoyed at me finding it without her! Well it’s all ordered…now just the painful delay of waiting 4 months for it to arrive! And maybe I should wear a veil…………!

KATE'S TIPS 1. Wear really comfy shoes. 2. Wear nice new undies – you will be dressed by the shop attendants!
3. Don’t judge a dress from the hanger – they look so different once on!
4. Don’t settle for anything that doesn’t take your breath away.
5. Don’t let anyone else persuade you to get a dress that THEY like. not even your mum (or whoever is paying for it).
6. Wear your hair similar to what you will on the day.
