Well I may have found the man of my dreams but mum still hasn’t chosen her outfit. I’ve been so wrapped up with choosing my stuff that I had forgotten about my and Andy’s mother. I’ve got to tactfully suggest to them both that the colour of their outfits should not clash with my dress and more importantly that outfits worn by the mother of the bride and groom compliment each other. Not the easiest of tasks, there are some strong personalities involved here, including mine!
I’ve given both my and Andy’s mum a list of specialist shops that supply occasion wear. These shops often have exclusive pieces and avoid the problem of someone else turning up in the same outfit. Alternatively they could go to a large store and use a ‘personal shopper’ who will advise them on their outfits.
Whatever they choose, It’s important that it is comfortable and not too tight, as they will be wearing it for hours. Also make sure it does not crease too much. I’ve suggested they have themselves ‘colour coded’ by experts as an outfit in the right colour can look ten times better.
Accessories can make or break an outfit, shoes must be comfortable – they’ll be wearing them all day, jewellery complement the outfit, make up subtle and classic, and they must wear a hat that suits them and does not obscure the face.
To generally sum up, the look should be elegant, not ‘over the top’, and slightly understated - and not to deter in any way from the beauty of the Bride! Please see below for list of Premium Wedding Suppliers
