Volunteer makes donation to New Forest Nightstop

Remember when you were 16 or 17 years old? Imagine being told that you can no longer live with your parents and you have to fend for yourself.   Thankfully it only happens to very few people, but what would you have done in that situation?

New Forest Nightstop, run by Community First New Forest, is a charity whose purpose is to help 16 to 24 year olds who suddenly find themselves with nowhere to live. Just demonstrating that someone cares about them can make such a difference to a young person with nowhere to go. In providing a short-term place to stay, assistance with finding a job and a place to live the charity is making a real difference in some young people's lives.

Volunteer Nikki Amos, explains how she became involved in the charity.  “Around three years ago New Forest Nightstop gave a presentation to my church. My family and I all felt sad thinking about young people facing the challenges of homelessness and decided we wanted to help. My husband and I took part in the Nightstop training programme and I became a volunteer driver”.

Recently Nikki helped further by making a donation to New Forest Nightstop.  Nikki ran the New Forest Half Marathon and donated her sponsorship money to the charity.  Nikki said, “It is an invaluable service in our local community and it's important that it continues”.  She added, “Every contribution helps”.

Nightstop Co-ordinator, Jude Todd, said, “If it wasn’t for the generosity and support of volunteers such as Nikki we wouldn’t be able to run Nightstop.  The young people we help are always so grateful for the support we give them so on their behalf I would like to say a big thank you to Nikki.”
