Police in the New Forest are appealing for information after a quantity of lead was stolen from the roof of Café One Hundred, Round Hill, Fordingbridge. The lead was taken sometime between Friday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 10. The 3ft by 2ft section of lead flashing was taken from a flat roof. It is believed that an attempt was made at the same time to remove flashing on the same section of roof a few feet away, towards HSBC bank. PC Coskun Deniz said: “It is believed that either the offenders went into this venture unprepared, or that they were disturbed by a member of public. “Lead theft in the New Forest, particularly in Fordingbridge and its surrounding areas, is an issue we are aware of. This incident took place in the very centre of Fordingbridge at Round Hill and is a prime example of how daring the offender(s) can be, with no regard for our community and our values. “ Anyone with information should contact PC Deniz at Fordingbridge police station on 101, or call Crimestoppers, the charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
