Detectives are investigating an attempted robbery of cash in transit to Barclays Bank in Station Road, New Milton.
The robber approached a Group 4 security guard just after mid-day, today, Tuesday, November 10, and attempted to snatch a cash bag from the guard as he approached the bank. The guard was unharmed in the incident and no weapons are thought to have been used.
After failing to grab the bag, the offender who is black, ran off empty handed along Parkside Walk into the nearby recreation ground, past the skate park and Methodist Church and on towards Whitefield Road. He was wearing a light grey hooded top and dark bottoms.
Police were deployed to the scene to conduct an area search for the offender and speak to potential witnesses who were in the busy town centre.
